Project Spotlight: A Fresh New Look with Modern Windows and Doors

We recently had the pleasure of working on an exciting home makeover that truly transformed the property inside and out. At GL Glazing & Window Services, we love seeing how new windows and doors can breathe new life into a space and this project was no exception.

The Homeowner’s Vision

The homeowners wanted to update their home with a look that was both modern and timeless. Their main goals? More natural light, better insulation, and doors and windows that looked great from both inside and out.

What We Did

First up, we upgraded their existing windows to sleek casement windows paired with top-hung windows. These choices not only brought in loads of sunlight but also gave the home a clean, updated appearance. The new windows feature clear glass that really opens up the space, making everything feel brighter and more inviting.

Types of windows and doors featured:

  1. Windows:

    • Casement Windows: These are the side-opening windows with hinges on the sides, seen in the images.
    • Top-Hung Windows: There are also windows that appear to be hinged at the top and open outward, which are called top-hung or awning windows.
    • Fixed Pane Windows: Some of the windows shown do not open and are purely for letting in light, known as fixed pane windows.
  2. Doors:

    • French Doors: The wide set of doors with glass panels that open outwards are typically known as French doors. They create an open, inviting feel between indoor and outdoor spaces.
    • Single Entrance Door: The individual door shown with a glass panel alongside it is likely a single entrance door with a sidelight. This setup is often used for access to the back or side of a house.

These types of windows and doors are popular for their ability to let in ample natural light, improve ventilation, and provide a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Why They’re Great:

  • Secure, multi-point locking systems for extra peace of mind.
  • Energy-efficient glass that keeps the home cozy in winter and cool in summer.
  • Durable materials that are built to last with minimal upkeep.

Then came the showstopper: French doors that connect the indoor space with the garden. These elegant doors swing out, making it easy to step outside and enjoy the view. We also installed a new entrance door with a matching glass sidelight that brings even more light into the entryway and adds a touch of sophistication to the exterior.

Standout Features:

  • Glass panels for an airy, open feel.
  • Solid construction for top-notch security.
  • A variety of finishes to perfectly complement the home’s look.

The Big Reveal

The final result? A home that looks refreshed, feels more comfortable, and is filled with natural light. The homeowners were over the moon, and honestly, we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. It’s amazing what a few well-chosen upgrades can do!
